Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend cleaning your toilet seat with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid the use of bathroom cleansers containing chemicals, bleach and abrasives that can lead to scratches and damage to your seat.
Centoco toilet seats are weight tested up to 300lbs.
The standard bolt spread is 5-1/2” from the center of each bolt hole.
Measure from between the center of the bolt holes to the longest point at the front outside edge of the bowl. Measure the width from side to side at the edge of the widest part of the bowl. Round bowls measure approximately 16.5" long and elongated bowls measure approximately 18.5" long. (See standard installation video for help)
Locate the bolts that attach the toilet seat to the toilet at the back of the seat. If they're covered with plastic caps, open them with your fingers or a flat screwdriver. If the hardware is plastic or non corrosive metal the bolts can easily be loosened with a wrench or flat screwdriver. For metal hardware, where rust or corrosion has occurred, if the bolts will not loosen you can spray them with penetrating oil. If problems persist please contact a professional for help.
Once the fastener has reached the pre-set torque, the outer hex body will slip and spin. This lets the installer know the correct torque range has been achieved, while also preventing the fastener from being overtightened. To reuse simply back the fastener off and use a second time.
Safety Close seats are designed to close slowly and safely. They generally take less than 30 seconds but can take a maximum of 3 minutes to close. Avoid pushing or forcing the seat to close as this may cause damage the hinges.
Toilet bowls come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Centoco toilet seats are designed to fit most standard round and elongated bowls. When your toilet seat overhangs the bowl verify the placement of the bolts within the hinges as most seats allow for some adjustment.
Check that the toilet bowl, tank and lid are level and adjust as needed. Verify that the tank cover is in the proper position and not pushing the seat lid forward. If the toilet seat length is adjustable move the toilet seat forward on the bowl to increase the seats distance from the tank.
Periodic checking and re-tightening of the nuts is recommended. Slight side to side movement is acceptable however if your seat is still coming loose we recommend looking into our Fast-N-Lock models that lock into place when the right amount of torque is reached to keep the seat properly fastened.
After proper measurement use our seat selector tool to find the best replacement seat with the features and benefits desired.
